About Paula Range
Hello, I live in the Midwest with my husband and five children. After being a stay at home mom for 19 years now, I have started subbing at our local schools and began writing children's chapter books.
We had pulled our son out of school for a couple of years because he was bullied. Then a few years later I remember sitting on my couch watching the news. They had just told of an elementary child who had taken their own life because of bullying. I sat on the couch and sobbed. It was so heartbreaking. I then went up to my room and just started writing what was in my heart. All of a sudden a story started to play in my head. I then started writing every night. Our daughter would join me and ask me to read what I had written each night. She was a huge encouragement as she would say, "Keep writing, Mom. I want to know what happens." When I finished it became my first book, I AM "NOT" A BULLY.
Having never published a book before it sure was a learning experience. I couldn't have done it without the help of an author friend, Krista Noorman. She helped me every step of the way.
I also kept asking the Lord to put story ideas in my head, so I can help children. My hope as a writer is for children who bully to think twice before they speak or text someone. I hope when they are done reading the books they will look at others through different eyes.
And for kids who are being bullied, my hope is that they will see how they do not have to believe what others are saying about them. (Easier said than done), but that they will see that they are loved, and wonderful children. What those other kids say or text does not mean that is what or who they really are. They are special. They are treasures. They are loved.
