Reading With Range
Welcome to Reading With Range. I am very excited to connect with my readers. Besides writing children's chapter books, I sub for elementary kids at our local school. I was subbing one day reading some of the first book, "I Am 'Not' A Bully" to my students, and one boy rose his hand and said, "You should make your website 'Reading With Range." I thought it was a fabulous idea, and every time I am in his school, he comes up to me and asks if I have made my website yet. I have had to say 'no' because I was too busy writing. But now, I am pausing in my writing to get this website up, and of course I didn't consider any name but "Reading With Range", because he did a wonderful job coming up with the name for me. Thank you Jonathan, I love it! :) I am an author who has a heart for kindness and love. My husband and I pulled our son out of school for a few years to home school because of bullying. A few years later I remember sitting on my couch in my living room watching the news, and there was an elementary child who had committed suicide because of bullying. I sat there and sobbed. I walked upstairs and began to just put down on paper what was in my heart. I read some to my daughter and she said, "Mom, you have to keep writing." The next thing I knew, I had a story, with some awesome kids who wanted to fight for those who were being bullied. The first book, "I Am Not a Bully", opens the eyes to how words spoken, or texted over a phone can really hurt a person. In the series, the main character, Cat, can see 'visions' into other peoples lives that she has bullied. It causes her to see why some people are a certain way, and how much damage and pain her actions were causing others. She has a choice to make, to stay friends with her popular friends and continue hurting others, or take the bigger step and walk away from all of it, to befriend the ones she has hurt. Fox 17 was very kind to interview me about the books.
